Operation Lion Heart

Pulitzer Prize award winning photojournalist Deanne Fitzmaurice won the highly respected award in 2005 for the photographic essay “Operation Lion Heart.”

“Operation Lion Heart” is the story of a 9-year-old Iraqi boy who was severely injured by an explosion during one of the most violent conflicts of modern history – the Iraq War. The boy was brought to a hospital in Oakland, CA where he had to undergo dozens of life-and-death surgeries. His courage and unwillingness to die gave him the nickname: Saleh Khalaf, “Lion Heart”.

Finally, a barber shop that lives up to its name and reputation. Hotcuts, which employs topless hairdressers, is taking Australia like the fist of an angry god.

Wojtek Wasilewski was tasked with launching a boring old hair salon with little money and in trying economic times. Then he had a brilliant idea: Why not hire naked women?

The idea for Hotcuts, he says, went off like 18 atomic bombs in its home of Sydney. The deluge of appointments has sent him on a hot-girl-hiring frenzy since the shop's opening this month.

Predictably, rival female businesses are freaked out about the company. Keep reading to see video, in which one of their owners sounds the alarm about how chemicals and scissors might cause damage to these nude girls -- as if those things couldn't do damage to people wearing clothes.

World's Most expensive Bottle of Beer

A bottle of Lowebrau lager, recovered from the wreckage of the German airship Hindenburg after it burst into flames as it moored at Lakehurst, New Jersey, on May 6, 1937, sold for over $16,000 (£10,810)-setting the new world record for the Most expensive Bottle of Beer. The Most expensive Bottle of Beer, heat-damaged but still sealed, was sold with an account of its recovery signed by Mr. Smith. Fierce international phone bidding pushed up the price at Henry Aldridge auctioneers in Devizes, Wilts. The brown bottle of Lowenbrau lager was discovered in the wreckage by Leroy Smith, a fire chief on the scene. Smith discovered a total of six bottles and a pitcher at the scene of the disaster. He distributed four of the bottles as souvenirs to colleagues and one to the Lowenbrau brewery in 1977, where it still remains.

The previous Guinness world record for the highest price for a single bottle of beer is thought to be around £2,500 and auctioneer Alan Aldridge started bidding at £3,000

Bhopal Gas Tragedy

Pablo Bartholomew is an acclaimed Indian photojournalist who captured the Bhopal Gas Tragedy into his lens. Twenty-six years have passed since India’s worst industrial catastrophe injured 558,125 people and killed as many as 15,000. Because safety standards and maintenance procedures had been ignored at the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant in Bhopal, a leak of methyl isocyanate gas and other chemicals triggered a massive environmental and human disaster. Photographer Pablo Bartholomew rushed to document the catastrophe. He came across a man who was burying a child. This scene was photographed by both Pablo Bartholomew and Raghu Rai, another renowned Indian photojournalist. “This expression was so moving and so powerful to tell the whole story of the tragedy”, said Raghu Rai.

Breast Milk Ice Cream

In London, an ice cream vendor began selling one novelty ice cream Friday, naming the flavor "Baby Gaga" after the deliberately peculiar pop princess. People who try it may notice some familiar flavors in the ice cream, including vanilla from Madagascar, a hint of lemon zest and the comforting taste of human breast milk.

Mothers who produce the milk are screened as closely as blood donors, and the flavor of their milk can vary considerably depending on a number of factors, such as diet. The proprietors say that human breast milk is thinner and sweeter than cow's milk and are treating it as a gourmet delicacy, which explains the much higher price (approximately $22 per serving).

As yet, there hasn't been a comment on the breast milk ice cream from Lady Gaga herself, the reigning queen of publicity photo-ops, who may be waiting for a chance to taste the creamy treat first. Although if her videos are to be believed, she doesn't have an objection to being licked. The unique ice cream is available now, presumably in various cup sizes.
